Hanging Out In Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's Backyard

Yesterday was one of those rare days when Steve and I had no plans. We knew we'd try and have dinner with long-time buddy DJ Scotty K, but otherwise there was nothing to do on the house, no guests-- nothing. So we went to the beach.

When we first started dating, Steve introduced me to El Matador beach in Malibu. It's used in tons of commercials and music videos, and yet it's still secluded and not that popular with the public-- though that's changing. You need to park on the street, climb down a hill, and then to find the more secluded area you need to crawl through a little cave thingy. There I read comic books and Steve read the tabloids, namely this issue of Us Weekly.

We both knew that Brad & Angelina, Britney Spears, Jennifer Aniston and other celebs live in this area. They're often spotted at the Starbucks in the Trancas Market shopping center-- this is the now-notorious Starbucks where Britney drives around with her son in tow.

Anyway, as Steve and I were lying on the secluded beach he starts flipping around in his magazine, then looking up at the nearby sets of stairs that lead from the beach to the mansions above. Flip-flip, look-look... Then he holds it out to me... And suddenly we realize the stairs in the magazine are the same ones to our right with the security camera sitting at the top. So are the rocks. We're literally sunning in Brad and Angelina's yard. Here is one pic that is similar, but not the same one as we saw in the mag...
When the tide came in and we almost didn't get back through the cave to the other side of the beach where the exit stairs are located-- shades of our trip to Hawaii a few years back-- we thought about going up and seeing if Brad or Angie would let us just cut through their place; besides, I'm sure their bathrooms are also nicer than the port-a-potties by the beach parking lot and we needed to pee. But we decided against that.

Then, returning to our car in the afternoon, we finally noticed all the paparazzi hanging out in front of their driveway. Literally sitting in chairs or in their cars waiting for the couple and their children to drive out. It was kind of crazy and reminded us of just how nice it is to be D-lebrities like we are.
