On Wednesday our oddball sightings started with a visit to TART at The Farmer's Daughter Motel, conventiently located down the street from CBS Television City where they film The Price is Right. The restaurant is new and the hotel has been renovated, so it's a mix of hipsters and mid-west wives who really think of themselves as "Barker's Beauties."
So imagine their surprise when in walked burlesque and fetish model Dita von Teese, looking fabulous in a long white dress and with some saucy high heels. We shared a smile but I had to run-- I was exhausted after a full day of work and a big dinner.Last night Steve and I dined with our friend Sarah Stifler (no jokes, please, she's a lesbian) at Cafe Stella in Silver Lake. This was not a review, this was just for pleasure. Sarah works for the Hammer Museum and she recognized LA artist Andy Ouchi, whose work was recently seen in the THING exhibition at UCLA.
But the real highlight for us was seeing Daphne Zuniga-- thank goodness it was a warm night and I wasn't our wearing my boxy Melrose Place jacket! She looked lovely and fresh with minimal makeup. We toasted her with a lovely glass of wine.
Mellow weekend since next week is going to be a blow-out party for gay pride. Dinner with friends, final paint touch ups on the house, and treating our new teak picnic table with oil; oh, and writing all those restaurant reviews. It's the price you pay for free eats and C-Lebrity sightings.
