Fun Stuff You Should Know About

Steve returns tonight (Friday) from Hong Kong. I'm super excited to see him, so instead of writing about my work week (because I spent it writing about restaurants and don't really want to repeat everything now) I'm going to tell you about some other cool stuff.

This is a promotion for the DVD release and it's really neat. I tried something similar last year with Tyra Banks and America's Next Top Model, which was admittedly the coolest thing ever, but having Optimus call your home is pretty amazing if you grew up watching Transformers.

The guy who sent me my Optimus phone call was my friend Scotty K. You may know Scotty as the first DJ on Ellen DeGeneres' daytime talk show. He's also a big club DJ and has had numerous Billboard remixes (here he is with singer, Debby Holiday). Scotty is also producing a super cool podcast called "Scotty K.'s Klubcast 1.0". (Why these crazy kids spell things wrong is beyond me-- perhaps it's hip and cool and I'm old and not-- but Scotty's a friend so I say nothing...)

Anyway, click this link and you can get his podcast for free! Subscribe for free! It's like being in one of his clubs, but without all the sweaty bodies pressing up against you. (Which is a shame. So use your imagination.)

And speaking of music, I'm loving Sophie Ellis-Bextor right now. Steve turned me on to her (of course-- I'm musically challenged) but I've been rocking out to her tunes every day he's been gone. She's kind of like Kylie Minogue in that she sings fun dance/pop tunes and you just can't help but shake it around the kitchen while making a pot of pasta sauce (as I did Thursday night).

Oh, and if I haven't said this before, let me be clear about something else: I'm a queen. A big ol' stereotypical gay homo fag. I realized this the day Steve left. I was sitting around doing all those things you say you're going to do when you're suddenly single for a temporary time. And NO, I wasn't playing with myself.

I was downloading SHOW TUNES! Um. Yeah. A Chorus Line - The New Broadway Cast Recording (2006 Broadway Revival Cast). I downloaded it onto my i-Pod and sang along like I did when I first saw the show in junior high and bought the original cast recording on cassette tape. It's so good. It's a show about people sacrificing everything for their passion, their art, and it sounds so noble and painful and wonderful... until you have a mortgage payment.

But for one day I went back to that time when being in the arts seemed so real, so exciting, and so full of things I'd do for love. Like kissing today goodbye, needing music and a mirror, and getting a boob job/ass lift. Good times.

On that note, I need to go work on my book rewrite and get the house in order for Steve's return.

I plan on having photos from Steve's trip on the blog next week.

When my boyfriend leaves I have Madonna day. I watch all the concerts that I have on DVD. I throw in Evita and for fun either Body of Evidence or Swept Away. I cant subject anyone else to this without fear of condemnation.

Hey She-Ra...wait she was a different kind of queen...we all love you anyway.

Especially Lev.

Do you remember Lev? Have I asked you this before? "He who shall not be named" and my going off to Mexico in our sailboat party at MJs? He's up here in Seattle with wife and dog doing his post-doc. He got the Frodo poster you sent them framed and professed his love of/for (we were maybe drunk a little) you the other night and wanted to make sure I told you, :), only I forgotted cuz maybe I drank a little too...but I 'membered and am sharing it with the world now :)!

When I'm "All by myseeelllf" (sung in a Cartman voice, of course), I watch the Rick Steves DVDs MJ gave me, cuz I am a dork, and maybe drink too much wine.
