Lady Gaga Thinks We're Cute

In the middle of the day yesterday, Steve and I shot from our respective jobs over to The Tonight Show With Jay Leno. That's where Lady Gaga was performing.

Our friend Dave took got us on the NBC lot, escorted us into the sound stage, and the next thing you know he's knocking on a door. He opens it and says, "Hey, I want you to meet my friends..."

Um, yeah. It happened that fast.

Lady Gaga was so adorable, this cute little girl all out of makeup and resting her voice in preparation for the rehearsal and taping. She jumped up, grabbed Steve in a big hug and then me. No photos were taken with her because she was, well, out of makeup and wardrobe-- we both completely understood. We're in "the biz" ya see.

Steve actually had a small moment with her, congratulating her on "Just Dance" moving up to the #1 spot and how he's been following her career since before anyone in the US knew of her. For Steve, who is painfully shy around ordinary people much less around someone he loves like this, it was a big deal that he would initiate a conversation. I was quite proud.
From there we sat in the empty audience and watched her rehearse.

Can I just say: AMAZING. She sang it through once and blew us away, then on the second turn she just "talked" though it. Upon completion of her second take, Steve simply said, "I love how her talking is better than most performer's singing." Everyone from the show appreciated the comment.

We then quickly shot back to our jobs. I got a text from Dave that said, "She loved you guys... thought you were very cute."

Yes, she may say this about everyone's friends, but we know that in our case she meant it.

Here is the performance from last night's show. Happy Friday.

That's so cool! Isn't it fun? I used to do that with Barry Manilow. I knew the photographer at NBC, and he would get us in and I could watch him rehearse before the show. That was the Johnny Carson days tho.
PS...OF COURSE she thought you were cute. Hello!

Lots of us think you're cute, but none of us are as fabulous as Lady Ga Ga! Congrats, it sounds like an amazing time!

Am I the only one who thought Lady Ga Ga was an African American drag queen?
