Back from Vallarta

Steve's 35th birthday was a huge success (at least I think so).

Our stay at Casa Cupala was wonderful, our suite beautiful, and the views sensational. I have most of the photos posted on Facebook, but here are the highlights.

The staff at Casa Cupala was amazing. They greeted us, gave a lovely intro to the city, told us which club to hit on which night, and also set up some really nice surprises. For example, there was a fun cocktail party on Friday night where they bought Steve a lovely tres leches birthday cake. Then on Saturday, when I took him for a birthday dinner at Cafe des Artistes, they told the staff about his birthday and they had a sweet little dessert plate (pictured here).

Plus, the waiters did this crazy thing where they did this whistle and clap thing that sounded like fireworks. I wish I could imitate it. Unfortunately, I can't.

But I can post some highlights from the trip!

(P.S. Contrary to Steve's expression, which is just a reflection of being sung to in the middle of a restaurant, he loved the evening.)
Our living room.
The bedroom.
The pool on our balcony (no joke).
Our balcony at sunset.
Steve and I entering the "Romantic Zone" (yep, that's what they call this part of the beach/town) on our way to the Gay Beach (yep, that's what they call the gay beach) for fruity blended cocktails and some sun. I love that when you're in LA you'd never think of ordering a blended fruity cocktail but in a place like Puerto Vallarta (or Hawaii or Las Vegas) your plane will land and you'll say things like, "Get me a daquerie and two pina coladas -- instantly!"

Strange. Must be the tropical air. Or something.
And here we are with friends (L-R) Matt and Rick. We've been friends for a long time and travel really well together, so that made for easy days and fun nights.

We got back to LA Sunday night and Mexicana Airlines lost Steve's luggage. But then at 2am it showed up on our doorstep so I won't go off. Besides, it was time to start the week and get back into work, and while I was exhausted on Monday, we at least had some great memories to get us through the day.
